Audiobook narration and production

Your words.
A voice that brings them to life.

Savage Audio Books turns finished manuscripts into finished audiobooks. Jack can narrate or find a narrator better suited to your book, produce your book, and finish the recordings you already have, so every chapter sounds clear, consistent and true to what you wrote.

Before and after

The same passage, before and after production

Switch between versions while it plays. The player keeps your place, so you hear exactly what editing and mastering change.

What changed

Playback levels are matched as closely as practical so the comparison is about clarity, not loudness.

    The process

Clear steps, with your approval early

You always know what happens next. Before full production starts, you hear and approve a representative sample of the voice, tone or production.

    1. Inquiry

Tell Jack about your book or recordings.

    2. Sample and scope

A short sample and a clear picture of the work.

    3. Written quote

Scope, schedule and price in writing.

    4. Production

      Recording, editing and mastering.

    5. Review and corrections

You listen and flag anything to fix.

    6. Final delivery

Finished files, ready for your next step.

    Behind the microphone

Personal attention from first read to final file

Every book has a sound its author already hears. The work is finding it and delivering it cleanly.

Savage Audio Books is Jack's independent audio business. When you work with Savage Audio Books, the person you write to is the person who reads your manuscript, records or edits your audio, and answers your questions. When a contracted narrator is the right voice for your book, Jack still directs the sessions and handles editing, mastering and communication with you.

That means direct communication, decisions made with your intentions in mind, and careful attention to the details listeners notice: a mispronounced name, an uneven chapter, a distracting click.

    Questions

    Helpful answers

More answers are on the How It Works page.

Can you help me narrate my own book?
Yes. Author-narrated support covers recording preparation, a review of a short sample recording with practical feedback, and then editing, mastering and preparation of your final files.
I already have recordings. Can you finish them?
Yes. Share a sample and describe any known problems. Jack will listen and explain what editing and mastering can improve, and whether any sections might need re-recording.
What does "per finished hour" mean?
It refers to the running time of the completed audiobook, not the hours spent producing it. A book that plays for eight hours is eight finished hours, even though producing it takes considerably longer.
Do I need a finished manuscript to ask about a project?
No. You can inquire at any stage. A final manuscript is needed before narration begins, but an excerpt and an approximate word count are enough for an initial conversation.
