About
Jack and Savage Audio Books
An independent audio business where the person you talk to is the person doing the work.
Careful work, done personally
Your book deserves to be heard the way you wrote it.
Savage Audio Books is run by Jack, who narrates, records, edits and masters audiobooks and helps authors and narrators finish their own recordings. When a book calls for a different voice, Savage Audio Books can match it with a contracted narrator, and Jack directs and produces the recording.
The business is deliberately independent. You will not be handed from a salesperson to a producer to an editor. Jack reads your manuscript, asks the questions that matter, oversees every recording and edit, and answers your emails himself. Decisions about pacing, pronunciation and tone are made by someone who knows your book.
The goal is simple: finished audio that sounds clean and consistent, and stays faithful to what you meant on the page.
Careful listening
Every chapter is heard in full, with attention to the small things listeners notice.
Technical craft
Clean editing and consistent mastering, so the production never distracts from the story.
Clear communication
Plain explanations, written proposals, and prompt answers to your questions.
Your intentions first
Choices about voice, character and pacing start from your notes and your text.
